I have been waiting for iLife 07 to come out, so finally i can buy a macbook without having to purchase it seperately.
Hopefully i can hold off for a few months or whatever and then finally purchase it with Leopard and iLife 07.

JATApr 27, 11:00 AMLike Waze (http://www.waze.com/homepage/)... seriously Waze is the quintessential crowd sourced mapping application. Everyone should check it out. The one thing I think Apple could improve on is the map creation portion itself.
Is it as sporadic as it looks at 11am in my town? It does look like it could give details on any street, though. That would be better than the FM traffic or even the DOT/camera based traffic used for most things. Esp during road construction when side streets with no other data accumulation become thoroughfares for the summer.

The iPhone came out in mid 2007. It's not like Apple gives out their schematics and source code, so it could take a while for Nokia to figure out which patents are being used.

(Just as it took Apple several years to figure out which patents to sue HTC over.)

In this case, Nokia fairly quickly started asking Apple to pay royalties for the wireless technologies they were using. It's Apple that has delayed for years.

Think about it...why would Nokia file suit immediately to earn, say, a pesky $5 or $20 million (and give Apple a chance to make the product better) when Nokia can wait years and earn hundreds of millions or billions?

That only makes sense for patent holders that want a one-time payment. Nokia licenses their patents per device, and the GSM/WiFi ones probably can't be gotten around, so it matters less when they sue.

And again, Apple's known about many of these patents for years. They apparently would rather rake in the profits now and pay later.

Did you have any problems with the time not being visible or any other "side effects". I remember downloading and trying this with Nocturne but it wasn't as easy or effective as I had hoped. Was it easy? Anyone else have experience with Nocturne?

A shame or not, I told you it was fact. You'll find most teachers approve, most (although not all) parents approve and most students probably don't, but hardly a surprise there really.

He is using very general phrasing here to refer to the "why" not the "how". Job's and company isn't so concerned about the "how" side of things. The press and you tube has done that. They why is the more important thing going on here. Those are the facts that Jobs is talking about.

I've used all my body parts, and haven't had an issue!

I'm still within the 30 day return policy with Apple-I just need to see if AT&T will penalize me.

I doubt they'll penalize you if you are within your 30 days. Just tell them you aren't happy with your black iPhone and you want the white one. If they want to keep you as a customer, they'll hook you up. Did you pay for the black one? Cancel the line, get your money back then get the white one. There's always a way around the BS the phone companies try and screw us blind with...:D

nagrommeDec 7, 03:55 PMInteresting app. Unfortunately the place where my phone drops the most also has a funky gps issue. My iPhone usually says I'm located anywhere from 10 to 20 miles away (and yes, it has the pin point orb thing and not the you're in this general area circle). So I can report the problem but AT&T will get some random spot in the city and not the actual position.

Same here—I’ll have to set my location manually. (But I think the GPS issue is not due to my location, but due to an Apple bug. Lots of people on Apple’s boards have had it, starting with OS 3.0.)

I’m hoping this app proves to be of some use (not that we’ll ever know) OUTSIDE of big urban centers. AT&T does keep expanding their coverage in small cities and rural areas, and therefore they must be making decisions on where to spend. Having reports come in from a given location may effect those spending priorities.

So my friends who live in a dead zone will be the subject of AT&T outage reports from me. Likewise some rural relatives. Who knows—the nearest tower may get an upgrade (or whatever) sooner as a result of reports like mine. All of the above do have a trace of signal within a block, but it peters to nothing at their actual house. So close and yet so far.

(EDIT: I’d say AT&T’s online zoomable maps (http://www.wireless.att.com/coverageviewer/) are very accurate in reflecting these little local dead zones, too. Must be geography. So get taller towers please :) )
