VulpinemacApr 25, 03:36 PMI agree, Apple is pretty ridiculous at times.

That must be who you meant, since you clearly haven't had time to read the lawsuit yet.

Or do you think all lawsuits are 'money grubbers'?

Personally, I think all lawsuits are 'Money Grubbers' and should be barred from filing unless there is evidence of criminal intent against the user. Right now the reports are so vague that I expect by the time this lawsuit hits the court, the judge will simply throw it out as frivolous.

2ISApr 8, 08:24 PMIntel forced nVidia out of the chipset business. :p Which is what led to this whole GPU downgrade for Sandy Bridge equipped Macs with IGPs.

Well then allow me to be the broken record...

Intel isn't forcing anything. Mac Book pro's are using Sandy Bridge AND have a separate graphics chipset.

The iPhone was revealed on January 9th 2007. It didn't ship until June due to regulatory approval.

leekohlerMar 3, 12:04 PMI goofed. I misinterpreted what Lee said about sodomy. He said that not all homosexuals engage in sodomy. I thought he thought homosexual sex was not sodomy. Unfortunately, too often, when I'm impulsive, I misinterpret what others write.

I don't look down on anyone here. I didn't look down on anyone here. I'm sorry I gave the impression that I did that. I'm sorry I've written insultingly, too. I didn't mean to do that.

Sadly, I sometimes do react emotionally when I should react rationally instead. And I do need to try harder to comprehend what others say.

Fair enough. Now let's move along. ;)

JATApr 6, 03:53 PMWhat you and every other non-informed are missing is the Xoom lack of apps is a not really a con for 2 reason.

1. Unlike iOS, ALL APPS, in the android market scale to fit the 1280x800 screen. No x1 or x2 crap. So I can still ENJOY my facebooke app on a larger screen. Nothing is lost. "optimized for tablets" gives me the same information just with a different interface. So long has my twitter app or facebooke or squeezebox app scale so i can see all. I am a happy camper.

2. Unlike iOS i would argue that the xoom needs LESS apps to do functions that take iOS 3 or 4 apps to do. I dont need goodreader or the like because I have a native file system. I dont need skyfire because i have flash. I dont need to open in here, open in there. Every app can have access to each other...
Scale?? Access to each other??

I'm beginning to wonder if you have ever used EITHER iOS or Android.

PeterQVenkmanApr 5, 08:12 PMNobody's using Blu-Ray, in my experience.

There is a whole thread about that, though. Don't read it.

Perhaps a little hasty of me, I was simply meant to say that in my experience I've not ever been required to deliver anything on Blu-Ray, and that to my mind it was a purely consumer format.

I've been to quite a few film festivals that take entries on Blu-Ray.

Apple has two mountains to climb: 1) to keep up with their competition where they used to lead. (2) They have to convince users that the mac as a pro platform is a good investment.

alpacojohnAug 25, 05:42 PMFunny how I just came across this thread, as I'm in the middle of an Apple support nightmare as well (I have one of those MacBooks that just turns itself off for no reason - completely unacceptable). I have been routed through 12 people over 3 calls, with several promises of "expedited resolution"s but no tangible result.

Although it's possible (and likely) that the prevalence of the MacBook defects have been overblown, I do know that Apple's support process puts you through a lot of hoops to get any major issue resolved (e.g., replacing a clearly defective product). Each person I've talked to has been courteous, but in the end I still have no faith in their ability to actually solve my problem in a timely manner.

Frustrated Apple User

boncellisJul 14, 11:32 PMSchool House Rock - "Oh, I'm just a bill, a lonely old bill, sitting here on Capitol Hill" (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/1569494088/002-8458341-9463244?redirect=true)

I prefer the Simpsons' parody of that cartoon:

"...and I'll make Ted Kennedy pay, if he fights back I'll say that he's gay."

But seriously, the $1799 price point is a step in the right direction. If we could get it down to $1599 or <gasp> $1499, then that would be the de facto mini tower so many have clamored for. I would like a redesigned case, but that'll come eventually.

Sometimes the right price can make a person forget about what might have been.

ictiosapiensAug 17, 04:39 AMCould you give some evidence for that, except that they are underclocked on the MacBook Pro _when they are idle_?

And the Macbook... Nearly 50% underclocked, like the 950 was so amazing that it could be crippled by half of its mindblowing performance...

How does Rosetta hold back forward progress exactly? It's just small extension for the OS. It's not like it's Classic.

It's crap that is no longer needed.

Stuff that can be cut out but isn't, holds back progress. Progress = cutting and more cutting and then perfecting what's left over.

Rosetta isn't necessary to run today's apps (or even apps released over the past 2-3 years.) So it needs to go.

MrXiroMar 26, 10:00 AMI really want Lion, for the number one reason being TRIM support. I eagerly want to finally start using an SSD (specifically one from Crucial, since they make the fastest ones on the market), but have avoided doing so since the latest version Snow Leopard does not support TRIM.

It's a shame Apple is waiting so long to finally include TRIM support. Windows 7 already includes it.

I think I'll wait until 10.7.3 comes out before upgrading, though. If there are bugs in the TRIM implementation, I fear it may corrupt data.

I have the crucial drive on Snow Leopard... you are plain missing out by waiting... honestly... and you DO know you can just do a secure wipe of the drive and it'll restore any bad blocks right (http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=841182)?

I was worried at first too... but damn I don't regret that 400 dollar purchase any longer. Holy crap my MBP is fast as hell.

skunkMar 21, 02:58 PMI see your point. Personally, I'd been hoping Obama might hold ground on issues such as torture/surveillance/getting out of wars, and was fully prepared to accept fiscal policies I would hate (as a conservative--NOT a Republican, mind you) if we'd get some of the aforementioned issues. Gave up on any hope of that when PATRIOT got extended, though...on a few social issues (gay rights) Obama has distinguished himself admirably from his predecessor. However, in the big picture, we've still got a shill for big business and big government/brother, who is overextending the American military with conflicts in which we cannot afford to participate.Strangely enough, I agree with you entirely.

Bilbo63Apr 19, 06:44 PMWhich launched 6 months after the original iPhone...and was displayed in February of 2007 with an entirely different interface.

The point is no one will ever confuse this with Apple's iPhone... But what Samsung is doing now is another story.

If you look at each item that Apple takes exception with individually it seems silly, but when you put them all together in a single device it's a twin to the iPhone... An iClone.

dissdntJun 9, 12:36 AMRadio Shack is still around. :P

It's probably the best place to go. NO ONE is going to know that Radio Shack has the iPhone. Probably a quicker in and out then Best Buy or an Apple Store.

But honestly this whole trade in thing sounds fishy. Why would they give you 270 for a phone you can buy brand new starting the launch date for half that.

MacnovizJul 21, 02:23 AMI think that the surprise will be next month when Steve J is talking about Leopard. He'll mention something like, "You might have read a bit about a new chip from Intel called Kentsfield. You might like to know that Leopard is designed to take full advantage of Kentsfield when it's released." He really doesn't need to say anything else - that alone will drive MS nuts.

Maybe they will want to implement it pushing the release back to december:D

falconeightApr 6, 03:11 PMI bought a xoom...the salesmen started it up for me and after seeing it I changed my mind. It was my first return before I swipped my card.

charlitunaApr 5, 10:34 PMProblem is, its still Final Cut and will still suck at managing media.

Guess you want us to believe you are one of the folks blessed with an advance look

I'm not trolling, this is an honest question. But isn't a Final Cut pretty much worthless for commercial use without a way to put the results on Blu-Ray?

It's called 3rd party software and an external burner. Us big boys do it that way all the time.
